We don’t really post pictures of our domestic consumer units much but this one was definitely worthy of a post. The one I have installed is by no means the neatest, but the condition of the unit prior is one of the worst domestic consumer units I have witnessed throughout my career. No pride taken in the installation, different brand MCB’s, a very large hole cut in the top for cable entry, it was horrendous and could have been a potential fire hazard in a plastic consumer unit.
Now we have installed an 18th edition compliant consumer unit with intergrated surge protection device and each individual circuit has been placed on an RCBO providing RCD protection.
If your consumer unit (fuse box) looks in poor condition, I would highly recommend you find a competent electrical contractor to take a look to make sure it’s safe or even better, contact us!
